The "rusting" that you reference on Diane (track one) is not paper. It's analog delay... the sound you hear is the tape. There is, however, an instrumental bridge where *I* pull back on the lyric just before it begins. The musicians did not squash me and the mix engineer did not tuck me back. Mastering is not something that could or would have "fixed" it. It's there because it's supposed to be. The entire record is balanced from start to finish. That's the objective of mastering: balance. Since neither my sidekick Jack or I sent your e-zine a finished cd, I can only assume that you have a pre-mastered, bootleg copy. There's no other explanation for the volume issues you mention.
